Episode 51: Speaking of Speaking of Harpo (featuring Hannah Mira)

Back in Episode 48: Your Silent Partner (our Harpo appreciation and Harpo Speaks deep dive episode), we discussed the then-imminent publication of Speaking of Harpo, and announced our intention to devote an episode to it in the near future. And today, the near future has arrived.

You remember classic film educator and friend-of-the-show Hannah Mira, who in Episode 38: Help-a Those Kids shared her fascinating story of showing the Marx Brothers’ films in a juvenile detention center. (You may also remember her excellent commentary in There’s Nothing Like Liberty: The Marx Brothers and America.) Hannah returns this episode, to join us for a wide-ranging deep dive into the recently-published Susan Fleming Marx memoir.

Noah, Hannah, and Matthew speaking of Speaking of Harpo

This is our first episode since last month’s announcement that Bob Gassel was retiring from cohosting duties in order to concentrate on producing and editing. You will notice that the producing and editing is particularly sharp this week.

Official description: Film educator Hannah Mira returns for a deep dive into Susan Fleming Marx’s long-awaited memoir, brought to fruition by Robert Bader.

Note for early birds:  When a new episode is released, it might not appear at all of the locations below right away. If you visit your favorite podcast provider and the previous episode is still the most recent one you see there, be patient! And above all, don't worry.
