Episode 64: Groucho and We (Our Groucho and Me Deep Dive featuring Frank Ferrante)
Frank Ferrante was one of the first guests on this podcast, making his debut with us all the way back in Episode 3! And now he’s back, joining Matthew and me for a rollicking, affectionate, in-depth reckoning with the book Frank describes as Groucho’s “anti-autobiography,” Groucho and Me.
This momentous installment of The Marx Brothers Council Podcast is our final episode of 2023. This has been a big year for us. It’s been a terrific year for guests on the podcast; since January, you’ve joined us for conversations with Nick Santa Maria, Brett Leveridge, Dan O’Farrell, Eric Grayson, Cinco Paul, Mark Brisenden, Don Scardino, Jerry Sroka, and now Frank. It’s also been our first year on Patreon, which has added twelve postcards and twelve bonus segments (and counting) to our output, and allowed the podcast to continue and to thrive, thanks to our Patreon members.
Speaking of which: Bonus Segment #12 will be available soon on our Patreon page.
We wish you a merry everything, and we look forward to bringing you Episode 65 in January 2024!
Official description: “Groucho’s 1959’s autobiography Groucho and Me is delved into, featuring the world’s most renowned impressionist of the man, Frank Ferrante.
“The guys question if the book is truly an autobiography or just a collection of entertaining half-truths. They note the moments of humility and surprising self-awareness by Groucho, while noting that what is left out is as telling as what is included. Frank details how he’s mined the book over the years to keep his one-man show fresh, and talks about the joy of bringing Groucho to life as well as his plans for the future.
“Reading Groucho and Me is not a prerequisite for enjoying the discussion, as the guys examine the man as much as what’s in the book.”
Note for early birds: When a new episode is released, it might not appear at all of the locations below right away. If you visit your favorite podcast provider and the previous episode is still the most recent one you see there, be patient! And above all, don't worry.
